Strategy, a well-known corporate entity in the cryptocurrency sector for its large-scale Bitcoin holdings, has released a new institutional guide that expands on the traditional narrative of Bitcoin as a scarce commodity. The document positions Bitcoin not just as a store of value but as the backbone for an emerging digital capital market.

The 21-page guide outlines a framework where Bitcoin forms the reserve base of a multi-layered financial architecture, consisting of six layers: Digital Capital, Digital Equity, Digital Credit, Digital Debt, Digital Derivatives, and finally, Digital Money. Each layer comprises financial instruments with varying risk and return characteristics, all grounded in the stability of Bitcoin as a core asset.

This vision marks a significant shift from the traditional view of Bitcoin, promoting it as the foundation for engineering new equity, credit, and derivative products within a digital marketplace.

Strategy's own approach to Bitcoin holdings has also changed. As of September 7, the company reported holding 845,050 $BTC, cumulatively purchased for $63.73 billion at an average cost of $75,412 per coin. In recent weeks, however, Strategy diverted $176.3 million towards repurchasing preferred stock and expanded its buyback authorization for digital-credit securities to $2 billion.

The accumulation of Bitcoin by exchange-traded funds (ETFs) has now surpassed Strategy's own holdings by more than 400,000 $BTC, underscoring major institutional adoption of the cryptocurrency as a reserve asset. Strategy emphasizes that Bitcoin produces no contractual cash flow and remains subject to significant price downturns.

The company directly acknowledges its economic interests in Bitcoin adoption and informs readers of potential conflicts, given Strategy's $BTC treasury and its securities linked to Bitcoin's value.
