Bitcoin Halves Block Rewards, Eyeing Next Price Surge

Instruments

Bitcoin's fourth halving occurred in April 2024, reducing block rewards from 6.25 to 3.125 BTC. This event happens every 210,000 blocks, approximately every four years, and is designed to control the total supply of Bitcoin, capped at 21 million.

The programmed reduction in block reward has often preceded price increases in the past, but this effect is not guaranteed and depends on demand factors such as adoption and regulation. Miners face revenue cuts due to the halving, but continue operating thanks to improved efficiency and network difficulty adjustments.

Despite these challenges, miners remain operational, and the next halving is expected around early 2028 at block 1,050,000.
