Bitcoin Heist: Hackers Swipe $327M in Two Separate Incidents
A significant cryptocurrency heist has shaken the market, with hackers making off with $327.7 million worth of bitcoins over the past week.
The attacks targeted Coldcard hardware wallets and the Liquid Network used by major exchanges. In one instance, a hacker exploited a security flaw in Coldcard devices to generate wallet seeds, allowing them to drain 11 out of 293 vaults holding nearly $244 million in bitcoin.
A separate incident involved 4,000 BTC being withdrawn from the Liquid Network's federation wallet by actors claiming to be white-hat hackers. The stolen funds were moved through the SideSwap trading platform, with the attackers reportedly offering to return them once a system bug is fixed.
