Bitcoin Holdings Boost American Bitcoin Despite $57M Quarterly Loss
American Bitcoin (ABTC) posted a net loss of $57.2 million in its second-quarter earnings report, despite increasing its bitcoin holdings to 8,002 from 7,021 at the end of the quarter.
The company's shares rose over 5% after the earnings release as investors focused on American Bitcoin's strategy of accumulating more bitcoins rather than short-term financial results.
American Bitcoin's net loss for the second quarter was largely due to valuation losses from the decline in bitcoin prices. However, the company's mining performance improved, with a record quarterly output of 932 bitcoins mined.
Eric Trump, co-founder and chief strategy officer of American Bitcoin, said that his long-term conviction in bitcoin had not changed, and that the company aimed to continue sustained growth each quarter and build a leading U.S. bitcoin company over the long term.
