Bitcoin Holds Firm Amid Escalating US-EU Trade War Tensions
A tariff standoff between the US and seven European nations has escalated, but Bitcoin remains steady near $95,000. The US is imposing tariffs on Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1st, with an initial rate of 10% that will rise to 25% if no deal is reached by June 1st.
The European Union has responded by halting approval of a pending trade deal with the US. Democrats are preparing legislation to block the proposed tariffs on EU countries. Analysts at the Kobeissi Letter believe this is the fourth step in the trade war and expect financial markets to open lower on Sunday evening and Monday.
Bitcoin has weathered previous tariff battles, including a 35% drop from $110,000 to $75,000 during the first trade war. However, this time around it remains resilient near $95,000. The EU's opposition to the US acquisition of Greenland is seen as a key factor in prolonging the dispute.
