Bitcoin Holds Ground Above $79K Amid August Rally
Bitcoin has defied market pressure above $79,020 as it consolidates a nearly 25% gain in August. The cryptocurrency's price action has been marked by high volatility over the past few sessions, but it has managed to defend the range between $78,200 and $78,700 over the past 48 hours.
The increased liquidity on regulated spot platforms has provided support for Bitcoin's price, while short position liquidations on major exchanges have exceeded $180 million over the past week. This has led to automatic buybacks on the open market, providing bullish traction against programmed institutional selling.
The daily spot trading volume has surpassed $34 billion on the last business day, representing a 14% increase compared to the moving average observed in mid-month. The funding rate on Bitcoin perpetual contracts remains at moderate levels near 0.008%, indicating that the current movement is supported by spot buying rather than excessive speculative leverage in derivatives.
