Bitcoin Holds Ground Against Gold as Market Dynamics Favor Crypto
Bitcoin has fared better than gold during the recent anti-fiat pullback. While gold pulled back more aggressively, Bitcoin held support at the 23.6% retracement of its recent move. This is reminiscent of a period in August 2020 when Bitcoin outperformed gold as an anti-fiat vehicle.
Historically, when gold has broken out and then stalled, Bitcoin has shown strength. In August 2020, gold broke above $2k for the first time, but Bitcoin struggled to get back above $12k. However, it eventually jumped above $100k before finding resistance at $125k.
The current market dynamics suggest that Bitcoin may be poised to outperform gold again. The US Treasury Secretary and President Donald Trump have talked about growing their way out of debt by increasing GDP and decreasing debt cost. This could lead to more printing and less prudence, which is behind the initial catalyst for the gold rally in 2024.
