Bitcoin Holds Steady Ahead of Fed Decision
Bitcoin continued its steady hold above $64,000 on Wednesday as traders awaited the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. This move comes after a volatile stretch that saw the cryptocurrency touch $66,700 last week and drop to $62,400 due to a rout in South Korean stocks.
The odds of a 25 basis point hike have increased to 35.8% from 25.7% a week earlier, according to futures markets. Citadel expects a surprise increase, while Kraken's economist Thomas Perfumo believes there will be no change in rates at all.
Bitcoin traded at $64,328 early Wednesday, a gain of 0.75%, which clawed back part of the losses from the previous day. The benchmark index of 20 large tokens rose 0.41% with its members split evenly between gainers and decliners.
