Bitcoin Holds Steady Amid Escalating Trade War Over Greenland Dispute
The European Union has scheduled an emergency meeting in response to US President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs on seven European nations, but Bitcoin remains unaffected by the geopolitical turmoil. The tariffs, which target Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland, were announced as part of a trade dispute over Greenland.
The initial tariff rate is 10%, set to rise to 25% if no deal is reached by June 1. However, Democrats are planning to introduce legislation to block the proposed tariffs on EU countries.
BTC last traded at just over $95,000, showing little reaction to the escalating trade war. Analysts at the Kobeissi Letter expect financial markets to open lower due to the ongoing tensions and Trump's 'hardball' approach.
