Bitcoin Holds Steady at $78,500 Amid Geopolitical Tensions
The Bitcoin price has stabilized at around $78,500 despite geopolitical tensions and increased oil prices. In fact, it has seen a slight increase of 0.6% in the last 24 hours. The Ethereum price, on the other hand, has dropped by 0.4%, while XRP has fallen by 1.4%. Other altcoins like Solana and BNB have also declined.
The Bitcoin price is showing resilience despite a cautious start to the week for traditional markets. The Brent oil price has risen to around $90 per barrel following US attacks on Iranian targets, which has raised concerns about energy inflation and increased tensions in the Middle East.
Despite these geopolitical concerns, Bitcoin's price is still on track to close August with a gain of over 24%, its best monthly performance since 2017. This contrasts with some altcoins that have seen their prices decline.
The market is also being influenced by recent comments from Kevin Warsh, the president of the Federal Reserve, who has expressed concerns about inflation and increased the likelihood of higher interest rates in September. The dollar has strengthened as a result, which can reduce demand for riskier assets like cryptocurrencies.
