Bitcoin Institutional Buying Hits Record Amid Price Decline
Institutional investors continued to buy into Bitcoin during the second quarter of 2026 despite the cryptocurrency's 14.2% decline in value.
Total institutional holdings in US spot Bitcoin ETFs rose by 7.5% from 498,389 BTC to 535,723 BTC according to an analysis of 13F filings compiled in the Bitcoin Strategy Institutional Adoption Report for Q2 2026.
This surge in institutional ownership was led by Wall Street's biggest names, including Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan, which both increased their holdings in iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT).
Hedge funds Millennium and Jane Street also reported increases in their activity in Bitcoin ETF positions during the quarter.
