Bitcoin Interest Rate Sensitivity to Ebb in Next Five Years, Bitwise CIO Predicts
Bitcoin's price movement may be less influenced by interest rate decisions in the next five years than it has been over the past fifteen years, according to Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise. Hougan cited the significant fluctuations in interest rates between 0% and 2.5%, 0% and 5%, and 3.5% since Bitcoin's inception as a reason for this shift.
Hougan pointed out that going forward, adjustments are likely to be milder, with CME expecting interest rates to rise only 50 basis points in the next year. This change in pace is reminiscent of Alan Greenspan's leadership style in the mid-1990s, where he employed a 'small-step fine-tuning' approach.
As a result, Hougan believes that interest rate decisions will have less impact on Bitcoin and other factors will become more significant. While interest rates remain important, they are expected to play a smaller role in shaping the cryptocurrency's price movement.
