Bitcoin Lending Market Poised to Hit $1 Trillion Within a Decade

The bitcoin-backed lending market is poised for significant growth, with a potential $1 trillion in total outstanding loans within ten years. According to research from digital-asset lender Ledn, the drivers of this growth are surging borrower demand and the maturation of institutional infrastructure.

The timing of this growth isn't accidental, as bitcoin recently broke out of its longest stretch of relative underperformance against traditional assets in over four years. With a market cap above $1.5 trillion, BTC's raw collateral base already dwarfs most sovereign bond markets outside the G7.

Ledn's research identifies strong borrower demand from long-term BTC holders across North America, Latin America, and the Middle East, with loan-to-value ratios typically set between 30% and 50% to buffer price volatility. The company's customer base is overwhelmingly composed of holders who acquired bitcoin years ago and have no intention of selling.
