Bitcoin Liquidation Dominance Hits Three-Year High
Bitcoin's price continues to struggle near $90,000 as leveraged buyers face mounting pressure from forced liquidations. According to data shared by Axel Adler, long positions dominate the liquidation landscape with a ratio of 32%, marking one of the highest readings in the past three years.
This metric measures the balance between long and short liquidations across derivatives markets, where positive values indicate that long positions are absorbing most losses. In November alone, there were three distinct liquidation waves, each exceeding $400 million, and aligning with sharp declines in Bitcoin's price.
The latest flush of $221 million occurred as BTC attempted a short-term recovery, immediately reversing gains and pushing the asset back toward the $86,000 region. This repeated cycle of forced selling has amplified downside momentum rather than stabilizing price action across futures platforms.
