Bitcoin May Surpass Gold in Importance, Predicts Binance Founder CZ
Binance founder CZ believes that Bitcoin could surpass gold in importance during the next major bull run. Speaking at Bitcoin Asia 2026 in Hong Kong, Zhao said that while gold's market cap is around $32.4 trillion, roughly 10 times that of Bitcoin's $1.6 trillion, he thinks it will happen 'pretty soon' and possibly within the next bull cycle.
Zhao acknowledged that shifting systems built around valuing and holding bullion towards Bitcoin would take time, but predicted it will eventually happen. He suggested that governments build crypto reserves with a 50% allocation to Bitcoin, along with Ethereum and other top coins.
CZ also tied Bitcoin's future to artificial intelligence, expecting AI agents to begin using crypto for payments, starting with stablecoins before moving to Bitcoin. He estimated that AI could make trading up to 10 times more efficient by processing information and reacting to news faster than humans.
