Bitcoin Miner Produces Empty Block at Height 960,017
A Bitcoin miner produced an empty block at height 960,017 on July 28, 2026. The block contained only the mandatory coinbase transaction, which rewarded the miner with no BTC in fees.
The miner responsible is listed as 'Unknown,' but some sources point to F2Pool as the likely culprit.
This isn't the first empty block in recent memory; SpiderPool mined an empty block at height 954,352 on June 19, 2026. Empty blocks were once common, accounting for over 10% of all mined blocks during Bitcoin's early years, but now make up less than 1% of all blocks.
The decline in empty blocks is thanks to improvements in network infrastructure and faster block propagation protocols like compact blocks.
