Bitcoin Miners Left Behind a Valid Block

Bitcoin miners recently experienced an unusual situation where two valid blocks were found, but one of them was left behind. This rare occurrence highlights the complexities and nuances of Bitcoin's consensus mechanism.

In a normal scenario, when multiple valid blocks are discovered at the same height, the network typically selects the block with the highest total transaction fees as the valid one to be added to the blockchain.

However, in this instance, the miner who found the first block did not immediately broadcast it to the network. As a result, two valid blocks were found before the first block was announced, causing a temporary split in the blockchain.
