Bitcoin Miners MARA Holdings and CleanSpark Report Revenue Plunges Amid Industry Shift
Two major Bitcoin mining operations, MARA Holdings and CleanSpark, have reported significant revenue declines in their latest financial results. According to a recent report by Blockonomi, MARA Holdings' Q2 2026 revenue dropped 27% year-over-year to $174.9 million, while CleanSpark's third fiscal quarter revenue plummeted 30.5% to $138 million.
The companies attribute these financial setbacks to the industry-wide shift towards artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing solutions. Both MARA Holdings and CleanSpark are diversifying their operations into AI infrastructure development, with plans to expand their capabilities in this sector.
Market reactions to AI-related announcements have weakened significantly, with average stock gains falling from 24% to approximately 10%. The TEM AI Infrastructure Growth Index has declined roughly 28.5% since reaching its June high.
