Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Sees Largest Drop Since China Ban

Bitcoin mining difficulty has experienced its steepest decline since China banned Bitcoin mining in 2021, according to recent data. On July 16, the record high for mining difficulty was set at a significant level, but it fell by approximately 18.5% on August 10, as reported by Unfolded.

This drop is smaller compared to other sharp declines in the past, including a 32% decline during the 2018 bear market and a 45% slide in 2021. Historically, significant drops in mining difficulty have often coincided with the bottom phase of market cycles.

However, experts warn that a prolonged downturn could exacerbate financial strain on miners and trigger capitulation selling. If Bitcoin rebounds after this phase ends, the latest difficulty adjustment might serve as a catalyst for a bullish reversal.
