Bitcoin Mining Facility Faces Shutdown Over Noise Complaints

Rural Delaware County residents are pushing for the shutdown of a Bitcoin mining facility after it began operating on land zoned for agricultural use. The Compass Mining facility, located just west of Hopkinton, has been generating noise that neighbors say is disrupting their lives.

Compass Mining needs to rezone the land from agricultural to light industrial use to continue operating. However, the Delaware County Zoning Commission recommended denying this request. If denied, the facility will have to shut down.

Randy Fitzgerald, a neighbor of the facility, described the noise as sounding like a 'jet engine' coming from the south of his property. He believes that the use of the land is inappropriate and thinks it should be shut down immediately.
