Bitcoin Mining Giant MARA Holdings Sells $46 Million Worth of BTC

MARA Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company, has significantly reduced its massive Bitcoin treasury after selling 726 BTC. This transaction has trimmed the company's holdings to 35,577 BTC, which is still an impressive amount but no longer makes MARA one of the top three corporate holders of Bitcoin.

The sale has pushed MARA out of second place and into fourth position, with its stash valued at roughly $2.3 billion based on current data from BitcoinTreasuries.net. This reduction in holdings is part of a larger trend among BTC miners, who often liquidate portions of their holdings to strengthen their balance sheets and boost liquidity.

Earlier this year, MARA sold over 15,000 BTC to repurchase more than $1 billion of convertible debt at a discount. Other notable Bitcoin holders include Saylor's Strategy, which remains the dominant corporate holder with nearly 20 times more than the second-largest holder, Twenty One Capital and Japan's Metaplanet.
