Bitcoin Mining Seen Boosting Renewable Energy Earnings
Daniel Batten, an expert on bitcoin mining and energy issues, has highlighted a shift in mainstream media's perception of the industry. According to Batten, since 2023 there has been a growing acceptance of bitcoin mining as a way to support renewable energy sources.
A study cited by The Independent suggests that during times of excess electricity, solar and wind installations could earn hundreds of millions of dollars by mining Bitcoin. This potential boost to renewable power is seen as a positive contribution to the transition away from fossil fuels.
Batten has previously pointed out the role bitcoin mining played in helping Texans avoid a 4% increase in their power bills during Winter Storm Uri. He has also questioned the lack of research references on Britannica related to Bitcoin.
