Bitcoin Must Clear $81,000 Before Reaching Armstrong's $400,000 Target
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong believes Bitcoin has reached its bottom in this cycle and is set to trend higher over the next one to two years as it approaches its next halving. He predicts that Bitcoin will reach $400,000 by 2030, a 'reasonable target' according to him. However, before it can reach this milestone, it needs to clear the $81,000 level, which has historically confirmed recoveries.
Armstrong's call comes as Bitcoin is trading around $77,000, roughly 39% below its record high of $126,198 reached in October 2025. The immediate test for Bitcoin sits above $80,000, where it has repeatedly struggled and where its 50-week moving average has become an increasingly important marker.
Galaxy Research's analysis shows that in four out of five completed bear markets, the first upside break of the 50-week average came after the cycle low had already been established. The exception was the shorter downturn between Bitcoin's two record highs in 2021.
