Bitcoin Nears $66,738 Threshold: $530.9 Million Short Squeeze Looms
Bitcoin's price action is approaching a critical threshold that could trigger a wave of forced buy orders. According to data from CoinGlass, if BTC rises above $66,738, approximately $530.89 million in short positions across major centralized exchanges would be liquidated.
This figure represents the total value of leveraged short positions that would be automatically closed if Bitcoin's spot price crosses that level. Short sellers are forced to buy back the asset when the market moves against them, often accelerating upward momentum.
The data also shows a downside risk. If Bitcoin falls below $65,289, about $133.03 million in long positions could be wiped out. This asymmetry suggests that upward pressure may be building.
