Bitcoin Nears Accumulation Phase as Institutional Demand Remains Strong
Bitcoin has shown signs of nearing its accumulation phase, according to VanEck's analysis. As of August 12, eight out of twelve Bitcoin capitulation indicators were active, signaling late cycle stress in the market. This suggests that investors are reducing their exposure to BTC, which can lead to a potential buying opportunity.
Despite a significant 49% drop from its October peak, institutional demand for Bitcoin remains strong. In fact, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETPs have absorbed $663 million in inflows, indicating that institutions continue to see value in the asset. Long-term holders have also reduced their supply by 356,534 BTC, which could contribute to a potential price increase.
However, there are mixed signals on accumulation. Approximately 11.84 million BTC remain untouched for over a year, which could indicate that some investors are holding onto their assets in anticipation of further price growth. VanEck anticipates a potential market turning point between September and November but cautions that historical patterns are not guaranteed forecasts.
