Bitcoin Nears Golden Cross Formation as Moving Averages Turn Upwards
Bitcoin's (BTC) price has reached a new milestone as its 50-day moving average (50DMA) and 200-day moving average (200DMA) have both turned upwards, signaling that the market is nearing the formation of a 'Golden Cross'.
According to CoinDesk analyst James Van Straten, this pattern often precedes an uptrend in Bitcoin's price. He noted that in the past, prices have tended to rise before a Golden Cross forms.
In 2022, Bitcoin's price never broke above its 200-day moving average, but currently, the market is exhibiting a new structure. Van Straten stated, 'It seems like a new market stage.'
The Golden Cross is considered a technical signal indicating a shift in trend, with the shorter-term 50DMA crossing over the longer-term 200DMA. However, this indicator is considered lagging and primarily used to confirm trend changes rather than predict short-term price movements.
