Bitcoin Network Sees Record Wallet Creation as Security Concerns Rise
The Bitcoin network has experienced a significant surge in activity over the past week, according to on-chain analytics platform Santiment. Over the seven-day period, a total of 2.27 million new Bitcoin wallets were created, marking the highest level in the past year.
This increase in wallet creation is accompanied by a rise in active wallet counts, with 751,000 Bitcoin wallets recorded over the same period. This is the highest level seen in the past 10 months.
Santiment attributes this surge in network activity to users moving funds and creating new wallets due to security concerns following recent confusion related to Coldcard wallets.
The firm suggests that this trend could have a positive effect on Bitcoin prices, as large investors tend to accumulate more aggressively during times of turmoil. Santiment notes that when network activity spikes due to retail investors being unsettled, it has historically led to increased accumulation by large holders and subsequently boosted Bitcoin prices over the following weeks to months.
