Bitcoin Network Splits as BIP-110 Supporters Fall Behind
The Bitcoin network has splintered into two competing versions after BIP-110 supporters failed to reach their target of block 961632. The dominant chain has now passed this milestone, and the minority chain is struggling to keep up.
Roughnecks, a mining outfit that supports BIP-110, managed to mine two consecutive blocks on the breakaway chain at heights 961632 and 961633. However, they are still facing significant difficulties due to the high mining difficulty of 127.48 trillion, which is making it hard for them to solve blocks.
Dathon Ohm, the architect behind BIP-110, claims that the Bitcoin network is under attack from hostile miners. Luke Dashjr, the creator of Bitcoin Knots, has issued a warning to users to upgrade their software to avoid accepting counterfeit bitcoins.
