Bitcoin on Track for $1 Million Mark by 2033: Bernstein Analyst
The cryptocurrency market has faced significant challenges this year, including increased competition from newer technologies and a decline in investor interest. However, some analysts believe that this cycle will eventually follow past patterns and that Bitcoin will rebound to hit new highs.
Bernstein analyst Gautam Chhugani thinks that the thesis of Bitcoin as a form of digital gold and inflation hedge may be resurfacing. He recommends buying Bitcoin as a way to hedge against U.S. currency debasement, citing the recent increase in U.S. debt and soaring long-term bond yields.
Chhugani notes that 60% of investors have held onto their Bitcoin despite its decline, suggesting continued faith in its value as a hard asset. The analyst also highlights the potential for a looming vote on the Clarity Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for the industry, and a massive Bitcoin short squeeze.
In an 'accelerated bull case' scenario, Chhugani predicts that macro factors will lead institutional investors to chase Bitcoin, causing it to peak at $500,000 by 2029 and reach $1 million by 2033. The base case suggests a price target of $300,000 per token by 2029, but still reaches $1 million by 2033.
