Bitcoin Options Market Sees $5 Billion Cluster at $70,000-$72,000
A significant concentration of open interest has formed in Bitcoin's options market on Deribit, reaching nearly $5 billion. This clustering is centered around two specific price levels, $70,000 and $72,000, which together account for roughly 18% of the platform's total $BTC options open interest of $28 billion.
The $70,000 strike has approximately 39,000 contracts active versus 3,800 puts, while the $72,000 level carries roughly 37,900 calls to only 1,200 puts. This heavily skewed call-to-put ratio reflects a strong bullish sentiment among market participants.
Laevitas identified several large trades that contributed to this concentration of open interest. A bull call spread structure was used, involving buying the $70,000 call and simultaneously selling the $72,000 call. This strategy bets on a moderate upswing in prices up to $72,000.
