Bitcoin and XRP have had vastly different years so far in 2026. While Bitcoin started at $88,764 on January 1st and briefly rallied to $97,860, its price has fallen every month since, now trading at $63,899. In contrast, XRP began the year at $1.88, rallied to $2.41, but then plummeted to $1.01.

Bitcoin's institutional support has been a major factor in its relatively stable price performance. As of now, 38% of Bitcoin ETF assets are held by institutions, with hedge funds, pension funds, and advisors holding over $40 billion combined. XRP ETFs, on the other hand, are comprised mostly of retail investors.

Looking ahead to the end of 2026, analysts have made various predictions based on Federal Reserve rate decisions and ETF inflows. If these factors align in a certain way, Bitcoin could break its January high of $97,860 and reach $95,000-$100,000 by December. Alternatively, it may stabilize at around $75,000.
