Bitcoin Plateaus Below $80K as Institutional Demand Takes Center Stage
Bitcoin's price has plateaued below $80,000 after a 20% surge last week that pushed it to nearly $79,500. The rally was fueled by Treasury bond buybacks, a weakening dollar, ETF demand, regulatory optimism, and a historic short squeeze.
However, analysts point out that the forced buying mechanism that powered the initial price increase is fading, leaving Bitcoin reliant on sustained institutional demand and favorable interest rates.
According to MEXC Research chief analyst Shawn Young, the Treasury's bond move 'opened a pressure valve,' but crypto markets priced the intervention as a broader change in monetary conditions.
Zeus Research analyst Dominick John echoed this view, stating that once crowded short positions are cleared, the rally must stand on its own through fresh spot demand, liquidity, and stronger fundamentals.
