Bitcoin Plummets $62K, Crypto Market Capitalization Follows
Bitcoin's late-July rally collapsed on July 31, sending its price plummeting to $62,236 after erasing $40 billion in market capitalization. This sudden drop also took a toll on the overall crypto market, with total market capitalization falling from $2.33 trillion to $2.22 trillion.
While some high-cap altcoins like BNB and ADA bucked the trend by posting gains of 2.4% and 15.3%, respectively, most others saw losses ranging from 2% to 12%. Ethereum (ETH) closed the week down 2.6%, trading at just over $1,860.
The CLARITY Act's passage in the US Senate could potentially catalyze a rally despite macro headwinds, but security concerns and ongoing Middle East tensions will continue to weigh on Bitcoin's price action.
