Bitcoin Poised to Surpass Gold's Dominance in Upcoming Bull Market
At the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference in Hong Kong, Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, predicted that Bitcoin will surpass gold's dominance in the upcoming bull market. According to Zhao, the current valuation differential between Bitcoin and gold is approximately a 10x multiple, with gold maintaining a $32.4 trillion market capitalization and Bitcoin holding around $1.6 trillion.
Zhao emphasized that practical utility outweighs price appreciation for Bitcoin, and that its widespread adoption in mainstream payment networks and securing positions within pension portfolios and retirement accounts is his ultimate vision.
He suggested that governments allocate crypto reserves with 50% in Bitcoin, 10-20% in Ethereum, and the remainder in leading cryptocurrencies. Zhao also anticipates AI agents will adopt cryptocurrency for transactions, beginning with stablecoins before transitioning to Bitcoin.
