The U.S. State Department has expanded its digital freedom efforts by partnering with private sector groups to address online expression, privacy, and surveillance issues.

BTC advocacy organization, Bitcoin Policy Institute, is joining as a founding partner in the Freedom Tech Excellence Program alongside Palantir Technologies, Anduril Industries, and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.

The program places private sector professionals in limited-term assignments to support diplomatic initiatives on online freedom, privacy-enhancing technologies, digital surveillance, and AI governance.

Despite advocating for President Trump's March 2025 strategic crypto reserve order to be enshrined into law, the Bitcoin Policy Institute's new State Department role focuses on international digital policy rather than domestic crypto legislation.
