Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong says that while quantum computing poses no immediate threat to Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency industry must start preparing for a future transition to quantum-resistant security.

In a recent announcement, Coinbase launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium, a new initiative backed by major industry participants such as BlackRock and Fidelity Digital Assets.

The consortium aims to support the long-term security of the Bitcoin network and coordinate efforts to prepare for the eventual arrival of quantum computers.

Coinbase has also published a roadmap outlining its own post-quantum strategy, which includes developing a quantum-resistant version of its key management system called PQ-CoreKMS.
