Bitcoin Price Could Reach $400,000 by 2030: Coinbase CEO Armstrong
Coinbase Global CEO Brian Armstrong believes Bitcoin could reach $400,000 by the end of 2030. To support this prediction, he points to Bitcoin's compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past decade, which has averaged 33%. Armstrong notes that a price of $400,000 is within reach for Bitcoin, but it will likely require a new use case or catalyst.
The biggest gains for Bitcoin are expected after its next halving event in April 2028. To achieve this growth rate, investors may need to be patient and wait 18 months from now. According to Armstrong, one major factor contributing to Bitcoin's growth is the passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (Clarity Act), which could accelerate innovation in the digital asset space and make it easier for institutions to hold Bitcoin.
Another factor driving growth is the mainstreaming of the 'Bitcoin is digital gold' investment thesis. As investors increasingly turn to Bitcoin as a potential hedge against inflation, its price may rise further. However, Armstrong notes that simply becoming a 'store of value' along the lines of physical gold is not enough to generate 51% growth rates.
