Bitcoin Price Drops Amid Liquid Network Vulnerability Exploit

Bitcoin's price dropped after around 4,000 BTC flowed out of Liquid Network, its sidechain. The flow was not due to a theft of secret keys, but rather an exploitation of a vulnerability in software used for generating and verifying L-BTC. The attacker claimed to be a white-hacker and offered to return the funds if certain conditions were met.

However, only around 3,400 BTC have been returned, leaving approximately 600 BTC unaccounted for. This incident highlights the importance of understanding the underlying mechanics that support the value of cryptocurrencies, rather than simply relying on their reputation or security features.
