Bitcoin Price Faces Key Hurdle in Bear Market Recovery
Bitcoin's price has surged by 25% in just one week, reaching $80,000. While this may seem like a significant milestone, market participants are looking to a key level that could signal whether the bear market is truly over: the 50-week simple moving average.
The current 50-week average sits around $81,087, and reclaiming this level has historically been one of the clearest signs that a bear market has ended. Galaxy Research notes that in 11 out of 13 instances where Bitcoin's price reclaimed the 50-week MA during completed bear markets, the bear-market low was indeed in.
While the 50-week average is still out of reach for now, Bitcoin's price has already broken through all three key daily moving averages. This 'extreme momentous break up' was described by Dan Tapiero, founder of 50T Funds, as a complex and significant development.
Tapiero also believes that the cycle low is already in, making it 'the hardest thing to buy here if you aren't long already.' Others have echoed similar sentiments on social media, acknowledging the strong momentum but cautioning that markets typically need to catch their breath after a run this hot.
