Bitcoin Price Falters as Spot ETFs See Largest Outflow in Six Weeks
Bitcoin's price has been affected by the largest weekly outflow from spot ETFs in six weeks, totaling $389.71 million from August 10 to 14. Despite this, the price only fell about 3% over that period, from around $65,300 to $63,300, which is roughly 5% above $60,000.
Taran Dhillon, Head of Digital Assets at Kula, suggests that investors are cautious about putting fresh capital into crypto due to high treasury yields and geopolitical uncertainty. He also notes that money is flowing into U.S. equity and bond funds as alternative allocations.
Strategy has been selling its Bitcoin holdings at a loss, with an average price of $64,262, which is roughly $11,000 below the average purchase price of $75,385. However, Markus Levin, Co-Founder of XYO, sees this as a pause in institutional flows rather than a sign of weakness.
The Bitcoin price could be affected by several factors, including higher energy costs due to the Strait of Hormuz closure and resulting increase in oil prices. This could lead to inflation and higher interest rates, making it more expensive for institutions to hold Bitcoin.
