Bitcoin Price Falters at $80K as $5B Options Expiry Looms
The Bitcoin price has dropped by 0.77% to $78,707 as of August 26, after being rejected at the psychological resistance of $80,000.
This comes despite rising inflows into the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) ETF, with $2.44 billion in inflows so far in August, the highest monthly inflows since October 2025, according to SoSoValue.
The IBIT ETF has become one of the top ten most traded ETFs as traders move away from AI stocks and towards Bitcoin due to looming US Treasury buybacks causing a drop in the value of the US dollar, notes Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.
