Bitcoin Price Holds Steady Amid Crypto Market Volatility and Data Breaches
Bitcoin's price remained stable around $63,462 over the past 24 hours, up 0.5% but down 2.5% for the week. The total crypto market capitalization also stayed at $2.24 trillion, a 0.4% decrease from the previous day.
In other news, Bits of Gold, Israel's largest regulated cryptocurrency broker, disclosed a data breach exposing personal information for around 200,000 customers. This comes after SafePal, a wallet provider, confirmed a vulnerability in its order tracking plugin that affected nearly 40,000 customers who placed orders between March 2025 and April 2026.
Jane Street, a Wall Street trading firm, reported a $15 billion loss in July due to the liquidation of most of its stock portfolio. The company cited a margin call on its AI hedge fund, Situational Awareness, which was run by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner.
