Bitcoin Price May Be Bottoming Out, Experts Predict
Institutional investors like VanEck are predicting that Bitcoin's price won't drop much more, making it unlikely to be cheap for long. This could signal a new bull phase is on the way.
VanEck's model tracks 12 metrics that tend to reach extreme readings when a bear market is ending. Eight of these metrics were flagging extremes as of mid-August, and all had done so within the prior three months.
The duration of Bitcoin's current bear phase has lasted 10 months, which is near the average of 11 months for such downtrends. Miner discouragement is also a factor, with difficulty down 18% from its November 2025 peak, indicating that less profitable miners have likely already exited the industry.
While it's possible Bitcoin's price could drop precipitously and set a new low, this would be surprising given these factors, as well as others identified in VanEck's report. Over the long term, the supply of Bitcoin will become harder to produce, biasing its price to the upside assuming there is still some demand.
