Bitcoin Price Outlook Weighed Down by Fed Rate Hike Fears
Bitcoin's price dropped to $76,623 on September 2 as investors prepared for two significant events this month. The cryptocurrency slipped by 1.88% over a 24-hour period, extending its weakness after failing to maintain momentum above $80,000. The wider crypto market also experienced a decline of 1.78%, reaching a total value of $2.58 trillion in a macro-related selloff.
The Federal Reserve's September 15-16 meeting will be crucial for Bitcoin's price outlook. Market pricing indicates a 68% likelihood of an interest rate hike within the current target range of 3.50%-3.75%. This would make the dollar stronger and potentially put another headwind on Bitcoin and other risk assets.
The CLARITY Act vote is also scheduled for September 15, which aims to provide more explicit federal regulation of digital assets. A successful vote could enhance institutional trust in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and Solana. However, regulatory uncertainty remains a significant concern, particularly with the looming election deadline reducing legislative time.
