Bitcoin Price Plummets to $75,000 Amid Senate Crypto CLARITY Act Setback
Bitcoin's price plummeted to just below $75,000 after the Senate voted against advancing the Crypto CLARITY Act. This news led to a sharp drop in value, with Bitcoin losing more than 2.3% over the past 24 hours.
The price decline was accompanied by a massive increase in liquidations, which soared by over 200% in the past day. According to Coinglass, the total number of liquidations currently stands at around $760 million, with over $290 million occurring in just the past hour.
The market's reaction was not limited to Bitcoin alone, as other major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH), Solana, TRX, and HYPE also experienced significant price drops. Ethereum lost around 3.5%, while Solana and TRX each dropped by approximately 2.2%.
Although the Senate's decision means that debates on the bill can continue, it does not necessarily mean that the legislation is dead in the water. Many sponsors have withdrawn their proposed legislation in the past following a failed vote, but whether this will happen to the CLARITY Act remains to be seen.
