Bitcoin Price Plunges by ~14% in Q2 Amid Volatility
Bitcoin's price took a hit in Q2, plummeting by ~14% from around $68,000 to $58,600. The cryptocurrency is currently trading near $64,700, showing notable volatility that has affected investment performance.
MicroStrategy, a company that holds a significant amount of Bitcoin, reported an $8.2 billion net loss in Q2 due to an $8.32 billion unrealized markdown on its Bitcoin holdings. This markdown is directly tied to the drop in Bitcoin's price. As of July 26, MicroStrategy held approximately 843,775 BTC.
Institutional investors continued to buy up Bitcoin despite the recent price pullback, with spot ETFs drawing about $233 million in net inflows. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for over $180 million of this, signaling sustained institutional interest in the cryptocurrency.
