Bitcoin Price Predicted to Reach $150K by Mid-2027 Amid Debasement Concerns
Bernstein's analysts have revised their Bitcoin price target, predicting that the cryptocurrency could reach $150,000 by mid-2027. This forecast is based on the firm's expectation of rising government debt and currency debasement, which they believe will strengthen demand for scarce assets like Bitcoin.
The base case scenario sees Bitcoin returning to around $125,000 by the end of 2026 before climbing to $150,000 in the first half of 2027. Bernstein also expects a cycle peak near $300,000 in 2029.
A more aggressive scenario suggests that if institutional capital moves rapidly into Bitcoin as part of the debasement trade, BTC could reach $200,000 by mid-2027 and peak near $500,000 in 2029. The firm maintains its longer-term forecast of around $1 million by the end of 2033.
Bernstein's thesis centers on the worsening fiscal backdrop, with US sovereign debt reaching roughly $40 trillion and higher interest rates increasing debt-servicing costs. Governments may eventually tolerate greater currency debasement rather than impose the fiscal tightening needed to stabilize debt burdens.
