Bitcoin Price Rise Dissects Local Returns for Indian Holders
On August 18, Bitcoin (BTC) rose by 1.13% to approximately $64,280, while its Indian rupee-denominated value, BTC/INR, gained around 1.21%. This increase in local returns was largely due to the rupee's weakness against the dollar, with USD/INR climbing from 95.6025 to 95.68.
As a result, one Bitcoin's value surged from roughly ₹60.77 lakh to ₹61.50 lakh before exchange spreads and fees were taken into account for Indian holders.
The distinction between dollar-denominated gains and local returns is crucial, as the former does not always translate directly into identical returns after conversion into rupees.
