Bitcoin Price Skyrockets 25% as Short Squeeze Fuels Rally
Bitcoin's price surged by 25.1% in August, reaching its third-best performance for the month. The cryptocurrency climbed from $62,794 to $78,545, fueled partly by a major short squeeze. Between August 17-21, there were liquidations of $5.8 billion, with a record $2.7 billion on August 19 alone.
Total monthly liquidations reached $12.65 billion, a significant number that contributed to the rally. This pattern is historically followed by weaker performance in September, as Bitcoin closed both July and August higher than previous months.
