Bitcoin Price Soars to Near $80,000 as Institutional Investors Flood Market
Bitcoin's price has surged to near $80,000 after a sharp rally from the mid-$60,000s. The cryptocurrency is trading at $78,900, just shy of the psychological $80,000 mark.
The influx of institutional investors is driving this price action, with U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs seeing $336 million in net inflows on August 25. Over the past seven days, these ETFs have attracted a total of $2.08 billion, with BlackRock's IBIT leading the charge with 2,650 BTC in daily inflows.
The growing open interest in Bitcoin derivatives has also contributed to this rally, climbing toward $58 billion according to CoinGlass data. However, momentum indicators suggest that the price may be overextended, with a Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 80.45, which often precedes a pause or pullback.
Traders are watching key support levels at $77,573 and $76,227 if a pullback occurs. On the upside, a close above $80,542 could pave the way for Bitcoin to break through $82,165 and potentially reach $85,000 to $87,000.
